Blood Pregnancy Test (Beta-HCG)
Beta-HCG hormone testing is the most reliable way to confirm pregnancy.
Advantages over urine test:
- Earlier detection (10 days after conception)
- Precise level quantification
- Track progression (doubling)
- Detect ectopic pregnancy
Interpretation:
- < 5 IU/L: Not pregnant
- 5-25 IU/L: Recheck needed
- > 25 IU/L: Pregnancy confirmed
- Doubles every 48-72h early on

1st Trimester
- Blood type + Rh factor
- Antibody screen
- Toxoplasmosis (if not immune)
- Rubella (if not immune)
- Syphilis
- HIV (offered)
- Hepatitis B
- CBC (Complete Blood Count)

2nd & 3rd Trimester
- Monthly toxoplasmosis (if not immune)
- Antibody screen (if Rh negative)
- CBC - Anemia check
- Glucose tolerance test at 24-28 weeks
- Urinalysis - Urinary infection
- Hepatitis B (6th month)
- Group B Strep (35-37 weeks)
